What this is

What is Astaris?

CAT preparation that starts with a mock: a full CAT paper, 2 hours, three 40-minute sections, timed like the real exam. The analysis afterwards shows your score section by section, the topics costing you the most marks, and a range showing where that score would have placed you in the most recent CAT.

Everything after that is built from what the analysis found: personalised mocks, practice by topic, a Foundation track for the basics behind each topic, and a daily speed-maths drill for the arithmetic that sits underneath every QA question.

How is this different from a normal mock test series?

Astaris has mocks too: fixed papers, the same for everyone who sits them, so a score means the same thing for you as for anyone else. The difference is what happens after.

Astaris keeps a model of how you perform on each topic — accuracy, speed, and how often CAT actually asks about it — and uses it to decide what you see next. A personalised mock follows the shape of a real paper but leans towards the topics you are weaker in, using questions you have not seen. A weak topic the exam asks about often outranks a weaker topic the exam barely tests. The point is to stop you practising things that will not move your score.

Can I use it alongside my coaching?

Yes, and most people should. Astaris does not replace a teacher. The Foundation track covers the basics behind each topic, but Astaris is built for the part after you have learned something: finding out where you are actually losing marks, and drilling that.

The questions

Are these real CAT questions?

No, and nobody can legitimately sell you those. Past papers are copyright of the conducting IIM. Every question on Astaris is written for Astaris.

Past papers are used the way a good teacher uses them — as a reference for what CAT asks, how often, and at what difficulty — never copied.

Are the questions any good? Who checks them?

Every question is reviewed before it is published, and answers for quantitative and logical questions are computed and asserted rather than typed by hand, which removes the most common source of a wrong key.

That is not the same as saying we will never get one wrong. If you think a question or an answer is wrong, tell us — it gets looked at by a person, and a genuine error gets fixed rather than argued with.

Will I run out of questions?

The bank is still growing, and that is the honest answer. Practice and personalised mocks use questions you have never seen first. A question you have answered before only comes back when a topic has no unseen ones left, and then the one you saw longest ago comes first.

Scores and percentiles

Will Astaris tell me my CAT percentile?

Not as a prediction, and we would rather say so than invent a number.

After a mock, the analysis shows a range: where that score would have placed you in the most recent CAT, overall and section by section. It comes from how scores mapped to percentiles in that exam. It is a range, not a forecast of your result in November.

A real percentile needs a large group sitting the same paper on the same day, and no mock can give you that. What you can act on is your own movement over time — section by section, topic by topic — and that is what the rest of the analysis shows.

Is my test the same as my friend's?

A mock, yes: mocks are fixed papers, the same for everyone, so you can compare.

A personalised mock, no. Two people at the same overall score can have completely different leaks, so each gets a paper built around their own. Compare a personalised mock with your own last one, not with someone else's. To compare with friends, start a study group: it ranks members overall and section by section from their mocks.

Cost

What can I do without paying?

One mock with its full analysis, 10 practice questions a day, 10 Foundation questions a day, 3 speed-maths drills a day and one timed practice session a day. Study groups, streaks, XP and leagues are free too.

What does Pro cost?

₹499 a month introductory, for the first 1,000 subscribers. It unlocks every mock, unlimited personalised mocks with in-depth analysis, and unlimited practice, Foundation questions and speed drills.

It auto-renews monthly. Cancel any time from your account page — you keep Pro until the end of the month you have paid for, and that month is not refunded. The cancellation and refund policy has the detail. Everything you have already done stays readable on a free account — your history is yours, not a hostage.

Rather not subscribe? The CAT 2026 Pass is ₹799, paid once, for Pro until 30 Nov 2026. Nothing renews, and it is not refunded once paid.

How do I earn XP?
  • A full mock: 3 to 25 XP, more the more of the paper you get right.
  • A remediation or optimisation test: 1 to 10 XP, the same way.
  • Each day of your streak: 2 XP.
  • Every 10 correct answers: 1 XP.
  • Your best speed drill each day: 1 to 5 XP.
  • Finishing your exam profile: 10 XP, once.
  • Finishing in the top 10 of your league: 1 to 5 XP.
  • A friend joining with your code: 5 XP.
  • A friend you referred going Pro: 15 XP, once their first 14 days are over.
  • A tenth of the XP your referrals earn each month, up to 100 XP.

Your account page shows how much you've earned and where it came from.

What is XP for? Can I buy my way up?

XP is earned by showing up: finishing tests, keeping a streak, answering correctly, and your best speed drill each day. It buys streak protection and days of access.

It cannot be bought, and paying does not earn it faster — a paid account earns exactly the same XP for the same work. Rank is meant to say something about what you have done, which stops being true the moment it can be purchased.

Your data

What do you know about me?

Your email, anything you choose to tell us about your exam background, and what you do on the platform — attempts, times, scores. From those we derive a private model of your strengths and weaknesses, used only to build your tests.

The Privacy Policy lists every category, including the parts you never see in the interface.

If I join a study group, what do the others see?

Your name and where you rank — overall, in each section, and by how much your estimated percentile has moved since your first mock. Never your marks, your answers or your mistakes. You join only through an invite link, and you can leave whenever you like.

Will you email me?

Account emails, yes: a welcome email, and sign-in codes or password resets when you ask for them. Anything else — study tips and reminders, such as when you have not sat your mock yet or your streak is about to break — only if you say yes, and every one of those emails has a one-click link to stop them. You can also switch them off from your account page.

Will you ask for my CAT portal login?

Never. We will not ask for your CAT registration password, and we do not log in to any examination portal on your behalf. Nobody legitimate will ask you for that — if any prep service does, treat it as a serious warning sign. If we ever need to verify a result, we do it from the scorecard you choose to send us.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, from your account page, and it erases your personal data rather than hiding it. That is your right under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, and it does not require you to email anyone and wait.

Practical

I forgot my password.

Use forgot your password on the sign-in page and we will email you a reset link. You can also sign in without a password at all — we will email you a one-time code instead — or use Google.

Something is broken.

Please report it. You can tick a box to have a copy sent to your own inbox so you have a record of what you told us and when. A real person reads every one of these.

Who is behind Astaris?

Astaris is built and run by Harshit Tewari, operating as a sole proprietor in Lucknow. It is not a large company, and that is worth knowing before you rely on it: questions are written and reviewed by a small operation, support is answered by the person who built the thing, and the terms say who you are dealing with.

Still wondering something?

Ask, and you will get an answer from the person who built it.
